947 Crew Finds Jozi: What's New In Joburg
776 days ago
We're pretty sure that you felt that 2015 wrapped up way too quickly. There were things on your 'to-do list' and you didn't get around to doing them. Luckily, you can start 2016 off on a clean slate and get right into the thick of things and try out a new restaurant or social experience. We've compiled a list of places you just have to check out this year. Let us know if you get around to any of them and send us your pics.
First Thursday's: Braamfontein.
Braamfontein is generally the hub of Joburg's nightlife and is always buzzing with activity, fashion and delicious food and drinks. Now on the first Thursday of every month different art galleries are opened up to the public as well as the Neighbourgoods Night Market. They have food trucks all over the city as well as some of SA's top artists performing all night long to make sure that party keeps going all night long. If you are in touch with what is hip and happening and you're looking to get an authentic experience of the city, then this is definitely where you need to start.
Tashas: Sandton City.
Tashas is well-known and loved across the city. We're very familiar with their food and ambience so we know what to expect when we book a date at this premium restaurant. What we didn't expect was the gorgeous decor that the new Tashas in Sandton City has… You'll feel like you're at a café in Paris. Be sure to check it out when you're looking to grab some breakfast or a meal at any time of the day with family and friends.**
The Good Luck Bar: Marshalltown.**
The Good Luck bar in the heart of Joburg has been revamped and it has officially reopened. This classy bar has played host to some of SA's most talented musicians and they have a wide variety of drinks and cocktails to keep you refreshed in the Jozi heat. It's one of Joburg's oldest bars and the ambience is very relaxed and chilled out so if you're keen on knocking back a few beers with some mates, then this is the perfect place to be. They're open from Friday to Sunday. More info on this great spot, here.**
Gemelli Restaurant: Bryanston.**
Fancy a bit of Italian cuisine at one of the city's newest and coolest restaurants? This family restaurant is open all seven days of the week but one piece of advice we must give you: MAKE A BOOKING or you will be disappointed. Their philosophy is simple yet so impactful: 'It's not just a place to eat, it's the experience of dining together, eating from each other's plates, sharing stringy bites, stealing toppings, sneaking desserts into the kids just before bedtime. Laughing, dining, wining, celebrating, enjoying. It's about family, first'. Try it out and tell them that the 947 Crew sent you.
The Potato Shed: Newtown.
Much like the rest of Joburg, Newtown has received a much needed 'facelift'. This vibrant part of town is home to some of the most epic music festivals the city has seen and now there's a new eatery in town and its REALLY GOOD! The Potato Shed houses a brewery and serve traditional Southern American smokehouse food. So if you enjoy your ribs and American styled cuisine then this one will definitely be for you. It's located at Newtown Junction which is close to The Market Theatre.
