Robert Marawa doesn't need a formal introduction as he is arguably one of the best and most sought after radio and television sports anchors.
Marawa was thrust into the spotlight when he became a continuity presenter on South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) 1 presenting in English and isiZulu. Soon after his stint as a continuity presenter, he pursued his dreams his ambitions of becoming a sports anchor.
Years later, he landed himself a weekly sports show, called 'Room Dividers' with his now former employer, Metro FM. The show soon became one of the most popular sports shows in the country.
Over the past few months, Marawa has had several public disputes with management at the SABC and Metro FM which eventually saw him cutting ties with the station.

Marawa says he won't be challenging his terminated contract but he will be pursuing a legal challenge based on severed contractual ties.
They always had a plan to try see me out on the streets, adds Marawa. He explains that working in an enabling environment was always important to him but says he felt antagonised at times.

Marawa says prior to officially parting ways with Metro FM he was ready for the next path of his journey, ready for the next microphone.

I don't understand why I still occupy front page news after 20 years in the industry, says Marawa. He jokingly adds that on some occasions he doesn't mind but warns that if anything malicious is written about him, he will pursue legal action.
