[WATCH] Teen shoved off bridge by pal into river
424 days ago
A Washington teenager was badly hurt when her friend pushed her off the bridge after she said she didn't want to jump.
16-year-old Jordan Holgerson was with friends on top of a bridge on the Lewis River in Yacolt, Washington in the USA. It is a popular spot to jump into the river though signs posted say do not jump.
As she hesitated and can be heard saying 'no, I won't go' a friend shoves her off the bridge without warning and she fell 18 metres into the river.
She sustained five broken ribs, air bubbles in her chest and a punctured lung. But the fall could have proved fatal if she had landed at a different angle.
18-year-old Taylor Smith, who pushed her, apologised to Jordan's sister on social media saying she was sorry and would not have done it if she had known the outcome.
Jordon says she received a single apology from Taylor via text.
In a TV interview Taylor first seemed to deny knowing what happened and then said Jordon asked to be pushed. Later footage shows Jordon saying no.
The prosecuting attorney's office has charged Taylor with reckless endangerment, a misdemeanour.
