5 tips for planning a fun road trip for the modern family
177 days ago
If you’re anything like us, you love a good road trip and, how better to spend time traveling during the holiday season than with your favourite people? So, whether you have three babies or a bunch of fur-babies, we think road-tripping is the ultimate way to “disconnect to reconnect.”
But, before you hit the open road to make precious memories – it’s a good idea to plan everything from start to
finish to make the journey just as memorable as the final destination.
Here are a 5 few tips that will work for every kind of family!
Planning your route to the destination
If you’re travelling for a few hours, the most memorable road trips are planned around the attractions. Plan your drive around nature reserves, pass beautiful open fields and farms where the kids can spot animals or the dogs can run wild for a few minutes.
Is the car big enough for all of you?
This is the most important part. If you’re planning to drive across the country, the worst thing would be for everyone to be crammed into a small car for a long road trip. To make sure that everyone is happy and comfortable, if your car isn’t perfect for family adventures, it might be time to consider upgrade. The all-new Hyundai Santa Fe comes with heated and ventilated seats, rear window sun shades and a panoramic sunroof that makes will make the kids (and, dogs) want to spend all their time in the car!
The food – you can’t forget the food
If you’re going to be spending hours on the road, the first thing you want to do is figure out how you’ll be spending meal times. If you’re on a tight budget, the best way to do it is to pack cooler bags filled with on-the-go meals like sandwiches, chicken wraps or delicious pies. Also, make sure that you stock up on water, snacks for the whole family – and, remember, you’ll also need paper cups, towels and wet wipes for those sticky little fingers.
Toys, books or good music
If the purpose of the road trip is to disconnect from their devices, then you’re better off packing colouring books for the little ones, compiling a playlist with their favourite songs and, remembering to pack their favourite stuffed animals in the car.
Safe places to stop for rest
When you’re planning a trip, it’s never a good idea to stop anywhere along the road to rest. Plan your rest stops at safe spots or book cheap accommodation along the route where your family can take showers and sleep soundly and, don’t forget the baby’s favourite blanky!
