Prospective Unisa students urged to register online

The University of South Africa (Unisa) has not reached an agreement with The South African Students Congress (Sasco) members who shut down the Sunnyside campus in Tshwane.

The management met with Sasco members earlier this week but the meeting ended in a standstill.

The spokesperson at Unisa, Martin Ramotshela says he can confirm that the university itself has not shut down any of its campuses.

What transpires is that students arrive every morning and then block access into the campus to staff or students wishing to register. But anywhere else where we are able to enter, we proceed with normal activities.

Martin Ramotshela, Unisa Spokesperson

He adds that the online mode of registration has been going on and he encourages prospective students to use that mode to register as it is more effective.
