Thank you for helping raise over R300K for the Breakfast Club's Baby Box Project
14 days ago
The winter days are getting colder, but it gives us comfort and joy to know that hundreds of new born babies in and around Joburg have blankets, rompers, beanies, socks, and other warm clothing items to keep the nippy winds at bay. It’s all thanks to you for coming on board to support this incredible initiative between #947BreakfastClub and Baby Box Project.
You helped us raise over R300 000 to buy baby care packages for mothers who have been hit hard by #Covid19. So far, we have been able to deliver these packages to 8 hospitals, including Rahima Moosa Hospital, Leratong Hospital, Sebokeng Hospital, Baragwanath Hospital, and Edenvale Hospital. We can not thank you enough for helping us to make a difference in our communities during these difficult times.
Help make a difference with The Baby Box Project and the 947 Breakfast Club The only thing the 947 Breakfast Club loves more than making your mornings, is making a difference and with the Covid-19 pandemic putting incredible financial strain on so many people, there's never been a better time to lend a helping hand. That’s why Anele, Frankie and the team have decided to raise funds to buy baby essentials for new mothers who find themselves in dire need during the lockdown. To make this possible, they’re joining forces with The Baby Box Project, an inspiring organisation that has been gifting underprivileged new mothers with much-needed baby essentials since 2014. The 947 Breakfast Club is calling on people across Joburg and beyond – people like you – to get involved by donating to this cause. No matter how small your contribution, it’s guaranteed to make a difference.
Everything you need to know about The Baby Box Project
Many mothers in our country lack a support system and face desperate poverty. A feeling of immense hopelessness often steals the joy that a new baby should bring. The Baby Box Project seeks to impart hope to these new moms, and to offer kindness and support in their moment of deepest vulnerability. Statistics show that a vulnerable mom is most likely to abandon her baby in the first 6 days after birth. During our visits to mothers in government hospitals, we personally hand over a hamper of baby essentials, affording them the dignity of taking their baby home in new clothes. For many moms this is a turning point, and they take on motherhood with fresh courage and commitment.
What is a Baby Box?
A “Baby Box” is a reusable bag containing essential toiletries and clothing for a newborn baby. Should you like to make one up yourself for donation please follow the list on www.babyboxproject.co.za. We have drop off points in Bryanston, Greenside and Centurion. Addresses can be found on our website.
What can you do?
The Baby Box Project is run by volunteers and funded entirely by donations, either financial or in kind. The value of a Baby Box hamper is approximately R350. Donations big and small help us to continue our hospital visits and turn the tide of baby abandonment in Gauteng.
