Dis-Chem Random Acts of Kindness with 947
We know you enjoy doing good for others, but some things are hard to do by yourself.
Studies show that teenage girls, between the ages of 12 and 18, living in poverty in urban and rural areas can lose up to a fifth of their high school education because they do not have access to feminine hygiene products – and are too embarrassed to attend school during their menstrual period.
Dis-Chem Foundation’s Million Comforts and 947 want to make sure that girls across South Africa no longer miss school because of this.
This month 947 together with Dis-Chem Foundation’s Million Comforts, in partnership with Caring4Girls, will be donating pads to a school in a rural and underprivileged area in Cape Town. They will also give puberty and menstrual hygiene training and try to educate the learners, to debunk social taboos around menstruation.
Tune in to 947 to find out which school we will be assisting.
