Dis-Chem Foundation donates R60 000 worth of supplies to local safe house

The Dis-Chem Foundation, in partnership with CapeTalk, has donated R60 000 in goods to local NGO Nehemiah Safe House.

Nehemiah Safe House is based in Bothasig, Cape Town, and gives vulnerable children the chance to grow and develop in a safe, loving, family environment.

The safe house currently has eight children in its care, ranging from five months to four years of age, explains founder Amy Vos.

The children are placed at Nehemiah Safe House through the Department of Social Development or Badisa under a court order.

The children have come from terrible circumstances and have been through hectic trauma at such an early age.

They come to us from very traumatic starts to life; from drugs, abuse and neglect.

Amy Vos, founder of Nehemiah Safe House

They come to us to ensure that we can heal them, be their parents and love them.

The Dis-Chem Foundation's Penny Stein commended Nehemiah Safe House for doing such great work in the community.

I see the love, nurturing and passion. Every single child needs that kind of support.
