In its Random Act of Kindness. Dischem has partnered with the Smile Foundation and donated R300,000 to the cause.

The Smile Foundation has helped over 3 500 children over 20 years, assisting them with cleft palates, burns and other reconstruction surgeries.

The organisation has worked with a team of professionals across the country.

The Talk Radio 702 team recently visited the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital where some of the surgeries have been done.

Tshego Modisane spoke to Smile Foundation's CEO Hedley Lewis to find out more.

When I say our [work] it is really our working together with 11 academic hospitals, plastic surgeons across the country, psychologists, speech therapists, dietitians, just to name a few.

The Dischem Foundation's Sherry Saltzman says the foundation genuinely cares about its patients.

This particular cause is very close to my heart, my brother was born with a cleft lip so I have seen firsthand what he has been through with this problem.
