Lou Ottens, who is credited with not only inventing the cassette tape but also helping develop the CD, died at his home in the Netherlands village of Duizel IN MARCH 2021. He was 94.

He gave us the opportunity to tape our favourite radio shows and songs and listen back to them whenever we wanted too.

Remember how we used to open the cassette to fix it, rewind it with a pencil?

What is the (first) song you remember recording from the radio onto a cassette?

Anele: "I was in Standard 7. It was No Doubt's 'Don’t Speak'."

Frankie: "Bad Boys Blue, 'Queen of Hearts'."

Clicks has announced that it is closing its Musica entertainment outlets at the end of May.

Nineteen Musica stores have been shut since the start of the group's current financial year and the remaining 59 will close as their leases come to end in the coming months.

Musica managed to outlive most of its rivals but couldn't win the fight against the growing popularity of online music and entertainment platforms, including the likes of Apple Music, Spotify and Netflix.
