KekeLingo Homecoming Live in Soweto
| Thursday 28 March | 8:00:00 PM
Gibson Kente Theatre, Soweto Theatre, Soweto
R150-R250
Kekelingo Homecoming Live in Soweto is a full circle music experience that revisits or interrogates the dream of Singer-Songwriter and Drummer Kekelingo, who was born and raised in a four-room house in Soweto, Naledi (ha mma). Growing up as the only boy in the house, KekeLingo would sleep on the floor in the dining room of his grandmother’s home. As KekeLingo would fall asleep in the nighttime, he would gaze up at the Asbestos roof of the house, pretending the Asbestos roof is his world stage where he imagined himself performing with all his music icons such as Salif Keita, Khadja Nin and Angelic Khidjo. From performing on European stages to the Apollo Theatre in New York, Gregory “Keke” Mabusela of The Muffinz has embarked on a new journey as a solo artist. In 2020, the stage name Kekelingo was officially born (choosing to adopt the name of the language in which he sings and created) as he embarked on a solo musical journey.
